Bishop Peak, San Luis Obispo

Bishop Peak Trail

from Highland Drive

Back to SLO County Sites

Excellent hike with rock climbing too!
As you hike around the southern to the western side
you'll see views of the city of San Luis Obispo,
Laguna Lake, Los Osos Valley, and from the top
you'll see El Chorro Valley and even Morro Rock.
The weathered igneous rock reminded me of Pinnacles up north of King City.
Climbing the rocks to get to the highest of the 3 peaks was fun and worth it.
Watch out for the poison oak if you're climbing to the middle, highest peak.

You'll enter back into the woodland around the southside.

At the top, rest overlooking the northside.
A short path right leads to the 1st peak.
You'll have to scramble a bit to reach the top.
A longer path leads west to the highest peak.
Watch out for the poison oak that encloses the path.
Some rock climbers have left some pins on the very top.

The Very Top!

The highest of the 'Nine Sisters'.
On the way back thru the woodlands you'll see the rock climbers.
Someday we'll have to try the Felsman Loop, Hike #36
