Go east through 'the real' Santa Margarita (1.5 miles)
Outside of town, turn right at the sign pointing to California Valley, Santa Margarita Lake, etc
Take Pozo Road (8 miles to the lake entrance)
You'll pass a left turn onto Las Pilitas Road (You'll return to Pozo Road there, later.)
In a few miles you'll see the Pozo Forest Station and this is it!
Pozo Saloon is open (usually?) only on Saturdays and Sundays.
Continue past Pozo and keep to the left heading back north and west.
Save the Turkey Flats turn off to the radar station atop Black Mountain for another day!
Don't worry about the lack of a 'stripe down the middle of Park Hill Road', Sally
Turn back south (left) on Las Pilitas Road.
Avoid the dogs at the Las Pilitas Nursery #3232.
Join up with Pozo Road, turning right and back to Hwy 101.
Santa Margarita Cemetery (going) and Santa Margarita Library (returning)
Lose points for losing Hwy 58 outside of Santa Margarita and ending up in Atascadero!
Spot the Rinconada Trailhead
Lose points for getting mercury poisoning at the Rinconada Mine
Stop in at the Rinconada General Store.
Lose points for ending up at the lake when you didn't mean to!
Score points for reading the historical marker outside Pozo Saloon
Score big points for actually eating at the Saloon or getting in to just look!
Score big, big points for staying on Park Hill Drive all the way into Atascadero (on purpose!)
