Aleutian Islands

Alaska

By Cady Connelly

The Aluetian Islands are still active
and are located on the south western part of Alaska.
The Aluetian Islands are sitting on the very edge of the North American Plate,
on the subduction zone. There are still random eruptions on the Islands even now.

The Pacific Plate is moving under the North American Plate.
As the Pacific Plate moves under, the farther down it goes it begins to melt.
This is the source of eruptions.

Not many people live on the islands so there aren't many human disasters.
