Colorado Trips tend to segmented due to the mountains
(1) The Front Range Urban Corridor is the easiest to travel. Denver is an obvious 'home base' but in the south, Colorado Springs would work. From the comfortable city of Fort Collins in the north, you can easily visit Rocky Mountain National Park.
(2) If you make your base, Durango (south central Colorado) you'll visit Mesa Verde NP and Hovenweep National Monument and travel the San Juan Skyway Scenic Byway. Pay a little extra and take the train to Silverton!
