Getting There
  • The turnoff is just a couple miles north of Cambria.
  • Turn right before you get to the San Simeon Creek bridge.
  • Park at the north end of the Washburn Day Use parking area.
Hike Notes
  • Take the boardwalk south away from the beach.
  • Keep right when you get to the campground road.
  • Cross the marsh and follow the forest ridge inland (left).
  • Hike into and out of a fern gully across a foot bridge.
  • Stay (east) above the Washburn Campground.
  • Watch for a crossing path. Go right back inland and down.
  • Turn left and down at a viewing bench.
  • Whitaker Flats - Hike up and out to the campground road.
  • Return on or along the road to the first boardwalk.
