THE SILKIE

Sylvia Tatler (vocals), Mike Ramsden (guitar/vocals), Ivor Aylesbury (guitar/vocals) and Kevin Cunningham (double bass) were students at Hull University, England, when they were "discovered" by Beatles' manager Brian Epstein. The Silkie's folk credentials were established with their debut single, "Blood Red River", but they achieved a commercial success with "You've Got To Hide Your Love Away", which clipped the UK Top 30 in October 1965. This engaging release was produced by its composers - John Lennon and Paul McCartney - but the group was unable to repeat its charm and lost any prevailing pop/folk battle to the Seekers.

Discography:
The Silkie Sing The Songs Of Bob Dylan (Fontana 1965)**, You've Got To Hide Your Love Away (1965)**.
