CLINT HOLMES

b. 9 May 1946, Bournemouth, Dorset, England. Holmes is best remembered for one major hit, “Playground In My Mind”, in 1973. He was raised in Farnham, New York, USA, and began singing and acting as a child. He led a high school rock group and also studied music in college. His professional music career began upon his discharge from the army, at clubs in the Bahamas. There he met songwriters Paul Vance and Lee Pockriss, who offered Holmes their newest composition, “Playground In My Mind”. Holmes considered it a novelty song, likely due to the inclusion of a child's vocal (by Vance's son, Philip), but recorded it despite those reservations, and after its release on Epic Records, it reached number 2 in the US. None of Holmes's subsequent releases charted. Holmes was still performing in clubs at the end of the 80s.
