Let's start at Malibu and work our way south to Santa Monica Beach where you can visit the Camera Obscura (if you can find it!) and relive the end of "The Truth About Cats and Dogs" and then to Venice Beach for t-shirts, tatoos, and tourists Manhattan and Hermosa Beaches for volleyball and the strand crowds with rollerbladers, etc Palos Verdes Peninsula from Malaga Cove where you can watch the surfing at Haggarty's then to the tide pools at White Point and to the protected grunion runs supervised by the Cabrillo Marine Aquarium. Belmont Shores in Long Beach and catch some windsurfing and maybe a gondola ride. If you'd like to see birds, bring your binoculars and walk around the Bolsa Chica Wetlands, continue south to Huntington Beach and experience a surfing contest near the pier Let me know where you found parking on Balboa in Newport Beach and/or try a gondola ride (this is a couples thing so make reservations for this one!) At Corona Del Mar Beach just south of Newport Beach there are cliffs and sea stacks. Do you want as Socal beach without the crowds? Find the hidden gem that is Treasure Island Beach in Laguna Beach? It's actually between Dana Point and Laguna Beach. San Onofre requires a hike down some dusty cliffs but the surfers say it's worth it. Peaceful ocean views from the Self-Realization Fellowship Meditation Gardens in Encinitas (215 W. K St). Try to find Stonesteps Beach by turning off El Portal. You can have a great walk wading thru the incoming tide along the undercut cliffs. (Be careful after any significant rains.) Moonlight beach has full facilities and is worth it if you can find a 'spot'. Fletcher Cove Park & Beach is a great park above a small but beautiful beach in Solana Beach just north of Del Mar. La Jolla Cove is famous but not the tiny beach area.
