ALICIA BRIDGES

b. Atlanta, Georgia, USA. This vocalist caught the mood of the disco craze as it sashayed towards its Saturday Night Fever zenith in the late 70s. Although her debut album reached Billboard's Top 40, she is remembered chiefly for the single “I Live The Night Life (Disco Round)”, which raced to number 5 in the USA and, when issued on Polydor, also made a strong impact in Europe. Unhappily for Alicia, Play It As It Lays, and its attendant singles failed to live up to the expectations of a fickle public, and the next decade heralded little commercial recovery.
