We had to get up early.
At least we just had to put our bags outside our room.
Holland America / Graylines would do a great job moving our bags.
The Alaska Railroad trip would take us a long way to Denali Park.
We could have walked to the train yard below.
The McKinley Explorer coaches were pulled by the train.
Great coaches! with seating on the 2nd level and a dining car below!
Great scenery! View 1 View 2 View 3
Our train guide would give us the history of the region.
You can purchase the "Ride Guide" to follow along.
Wasilla is where the Iditarod starts. Talkeetna is the party town.
Oh yeah... It was hot when we got off at the Denali Park Station.

1:00PM The weather was good as we waited at the station.
We missed Fairbanks' summer solstice midnight baseball game.
Another great meal in the train dining car.
Someone would still yell "moose!" as we rode along.
The permafrost keeps the water on the surface so all is green!
8:30PM We roll into Fairbanks. It's hot but guess what?
Rivers Edge Resort has air conditioned cabins!
