A mile before the Sisquoc Church look for the Fremont Adobe Monument on the right.
A mile past the Sisquoc Church look for the Foxen Home 'monument'.
Enjoy the drive past the Fess Parker Winery & Tasting Room.
Always looking for Foxen Canyon, take the last piece into Los Olivos.
On the return trip try taking Zaca Station Road to Foxen Canyon Road...
Pass the road to (Private)Zaca Lake and go sharp left on Alisos Canyon Road.
Right on Hwy 101 to Los Alamos and for a gourmet lunch try the Quackenbush Cafe.
El Camino Cielo Road
From Los Olivos go south on Hwy 154 (we drove south out of town on Grand Ave.
Alamo Pintado Road will get you to Hwy 154, Los Olivos and Solvang too!
Hwy 154 past Lake Cachuma to San Marcos Pass. Left on Kinevan Road/Camino Ceilo.
If you miss this turn take the(last chance!) West Camino Cielo and turn around or...
You'll have another (dangerous!) last chance to turn left to reach Painted Caves...
Coming up Hwy 154 from Santa Barbara one can easily take a right...
Finally, the Cielo Store is no more, but I got a photo of the sign!
There's a nice lookout from a pullout on the left-hand side with a Big Pine.
Well-signed Painted Caves Road after a few miles.
Single-lane road to the site just off the road.
You may run into traffic coming up from Santa Barbara.
Look for the rusty gate to Knapp Castle
Head back after that, the road has too many potholes!
Just past a vista point on the way down turn right at Paradise Road.
Paradise Store even has some live music in the evenings!
Past 2 campgrounds (well-guarded!) is a picnic area(free!)
Roads around Santa Ynez Valley
As you come north, down from Lake Cachuma take a right on (Armour)Ranch Road.
Alamo Pintado Road will get you to Hwy 154, Los Olivos and Solvang too!
If you find yourself too long on Happy Canyon Road (and run into Alisos Road)...
Turn back to Baseline Road (that's easy to miss).
Take Baseline Road all the way to Hwy 154 and Edison Road.
Turn left on Edison Road, cross Hwy 154, then right on what will be Baseline Road again!
In Ballard right before Alamo Pintado Road, turn right(north).
On Schoolhouse Court or Lewis Street, you'll run into the Ballard school house.
Continue south(left) on Alamo Pintado Road to the Quicksilver Miniature Horse Ranch!
You'll run into the road to Solvang... turning right(west) past Mission Santa Ynez.
In town, turn right on Atterdag Road and past the Hans Christian Anderson Park.
It'll turn into Chalk Hill Road and the Danish cemetery is on the left.
This road turns into Ballard Canyon Road which will eventually return you to Los Olivos.
Work your way right(east) back into town and Grand Avenue.
