Getting There 1

1. Moorpark (Ventura County) to the Cascades (end of the LA Aqueduct)

          a. Take the 118 east to the 405 north and merge with the 5 north.

          b. Take the (second?) Roxford exit and go right (west) under the fwy.

          c. Turn right (north) on Sepulveda Blvd which turns into San Fernando Road

          d. Look (on the left?) for a turn onto the Balboa Blvd overpass (east).

          e. The Cascades are in the northeast quadrant of Balboa and Foothill Boulevards.

          f. There’s sometimes unlocked service road off of Balboa past the intersection.

          g. If you take a left (north) on Foothill Blvd, you’ll find a turnout with the historic markers.

          *Bob & Jim’s bonus route!

                   1. Miss the turnoff and take the Antelope Valley Fwy (14) right (east).

                   2. Get off on San Fernando Road exit and loop around the park & ride lots.

                   3. Get out your Thomas Guide and you’re in luck. You can backtrack!

                   4. Take a left (west) at the first signal east of the freeway on Sierra Hwy.

                   5. It’s a peaceful road back along the 14 Fwy and under the intersection with the 5.

                   6. Follow the railroad back toward LA but look quick for the Balboa Rd turn-up.

                   7. Cross the 5 via the Balboa Rd overpass to the Foothill Blvd intersection.

                   8. Cascades. The Balboa gate was unlocked! The Foothill Blvd had the markers.

                   9. Follow Foothill Blvd north back to the 14 Fwy east (Antelope Valley Fwy).
